At last a phone that doesn't confuse my struggling husband. The large tactile limited buttons make it easy for him to use as all normal phones have too many buttons, functions and too easy to make errors, which in turn, upset him. He can make and receive calls from 4 family members and incoming only calls from selected friends. He is happy with the new ability of contacting family and I am happy he won't get spam calls and texts to upset or confuse him. Also, in his less lucid moments, only family can be misdialled or have a strange chat. This for me has given him a sense of independence without the loss of his dignity caused by him calling contacts who are unaware of his health. It was a little long winded to set up but that also ensures the phone can't be reprogrammed by accident. Fully locked to fixed contacts ensures no one can use the phone credit except to family and if lost or stolen, the phone is useless. I have not activated the Assistant on the phone as nursing care ensures physical safety. Smiles all round for this phone!Read full review

It is what it is, so don't expect anything else. If 4 numbers are acceptable like it is for us then OK. Remember it is a very basic phone with no way to dial numbers. There is nothing else on the market similar, hence the high price. For what it is , it is very expensive, but works for us. Quality seems to be an issue, I've had the screen go blank and the charger became faulty. It's used in a nursing home were the reception is poor for 3G and 4G, but because the phone is 2G it has no problem.

This an excellent phone for a dementia sufferer being easy to use once the limited number of contacts are added Quite easy to programme, if a little fiddly, and it has facilities which could be valuable and also can be disabled- we had to stop a relative calling 999! A little difficult to establish the SIM free status but it definitely is!

Doro Secure 580 matched the requirements we had for my father-in-law given his poor eye sight and hearing issues. A simple phone with a number of preset button and an emergency button to text and call predefined people if required. Easy to set up and seems to have a good battery life but only time will tell. Purchase through "Betterlife at Lloyds pharmacy" meant VAT free given my Father-in-law's medical issues which made is more affordable.

Gives me peace of mind that if needed my father can contact me (if he remembers to put it up to his ear) but also the best bit is able to track him at anytime so if he goes for a wonder and gets lost I can track the phone and inform someone nearby or go myself. Honestly if your loved one suffers from memory loss or dementia this is a must. I feel much better being able to just send a text and click on the link for the location. Priceless!
